The World Health Organization is going to change the definition of disabilities and will include those without a intimate partner. So for all the single folks out there, you will now all be classified as "infertile" but its not meant to insult single people but it is merely for purposes of priority for "In Vitro Fertilization". The new classification will allow single people, as well as the LGBT men and women, whether single or not, to receive the same priority as couples which will lead to that those who don't have a partner can now also be given funds IVF.
In Vitro fertilization (IVF) is a complex series of procedures used to treat fertility or genetic problems and assist with the conception of a child and right now being single will niow be classified as being "infertile" when it comes to medical procedures. Of course, there are people who aren't happy with the classification. Josephine Quintavalle, a pro-life activist and director of Comment on Reproductive Ethics, said that “This absurd nonsense is not re-defining infertility but completely side-lining the biological process and significance of natural intercourse between a man and a woman." Yet according to WHO’s Dr. David Adamson defends that it seals any individual’s right to reproduce whether or not they have a partner, particularly for those in countries where the government provides healthcare and public funding for IVF procedures. He goes on to say that labeling single people would alter who should be included in the group of people who can receive this benefit. The World Health Organization is yet to finalize these terms and people all over cant help but speculate how countries would react. Bottomlime is, for all the single people out there despite the rude naming of the classification it is perhaps good in receiving benefits from the funding of IVF.
